Joe Derosa becomes spectacularly self-aware.

Comedy (stand-up)

Never one to get over himself, US stand-up, actor and writer Joe Derosa, gets over here instead and most likely very over-heated given past form. Perhaps he is on an a mission from International Rescue to release us from the shackles of Little Englander Brexit isolationism?

Perhaps that could be your deadliest heckle ever to fox even the most garrulous of pond-hopping ex-Colonialist?

Destiny bound to make his UK debut with a month long run of Zero Forward Progress at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Derosa’s bulls**t by the horns brand of brutal honesty and world-weary disappointment, will flesh out his frustrations with people, their practices and, of course, his own flawed self until 28th August at the Belly Laugh, Underbelly.

The Edinburgh Reporter readers may well recognise the name Netflix at least amongst the accolade of creative credits that champion his cause.

As a writer Derosa has worked on a number of projects including the Netflix original comedy series Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp (a prequel to the cult film Wet Hot American Summer featuring the original cast including Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd and Bradley Cooper), documentary Women Aren’t Funny (including perspectives from stand-ups including Joan Rivers, Sarah Silverma and Susie Essman) and The Pete Holmes Show.

Parent Advisory. Do not let your Grandma catch you watching this. Strong content.

Promising ‘rants with unmistakeable verve…with peek(s) at the emotionally tangled guy just underneath’ (Time Out NY) can we intuit this more as process than progress? Fasten your seat-belts, it sound like it is going to be a bumpy night.

Underbelly, Cowgate (Venue 61). 21:00. 1 hour
