Hibs’ defender Niklas Gunnarsson was at Easter Road yesterday help out at the Tesco Bank Football Challenge and he took time out from the activities to speak about Saturday’s William Hill Scottish Cup Final.

Gunnarsson believes that Hibs have proven by their results this season that they are good enough to beat Rangers on Saturday and bring the Cup back along the M8 to Easter Road for the first time since 1902 and the Norwegian is hoping to play his part in the game, particularly since he scored when the clubs last met.

Gunnarsson told Hibs TV: “We’re a good team and we have proven that so many times this season. Hopefully we can have a great game on Saturday and win the game.

“That’s what we want on Saturday and the fans deserve the cup after 114 years without one, so that would be nice.

“Rangers are a very good side. They won the league and when we played against them at Easter road it was a very tough game but we won and hopefully we can use that advantage towards the next game.

“To score a goal would be amazing but the most important thing is for us to win the game and hopefully I will play and use my qualities.

“I don’t think we need to focus too much about Rangers. We have to focus on our own game and then we will see what happens.

“My father and best friend are coming over so it will be good to see them. They have wished me good luck.

“It would be amazing to walk around Edinburgh as a Scottish Cup winner. To win this game would be so massive, but hopefully we can do it for the fans.”
