A 61-year-old man has been charged in connection with a fatal road traffic collision in Edinburgh last October.

The incident happened on the evening of October 8 when a 57-year-old man died after being hit by a passing car on Comiston Road in the south of the city.

Local police carried out an extensive investigation and issued a public appeal in an effort to trace the driver of the vehicle.

A male has now been charged under the Road Traffic Act and a report sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Detective Sergeant Mark McGraw who is based at Corstorphine police station said: “I would like to thank the members of the public who assisted with this investigation and our appeal.

“A 61-year-old man has subsequently been charged in connection with this incident and is expected to appear in court in due course.”
