Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at a business premises which took place on Saturday afternoon  in Sciennes Road.

At around 5.25pm, a man entered the premises and left shortly after.He then re-entered the premises at around 5.35pm and went behind the counter, threatening the 57-year-old shopkeeper and demanding money.

The suspect has subsequently made off with a three-figure sum in a small laptop-style bag, and the 57-year-old’s mobile which was later recovered nearby.

He was last seen on Tantallon Place heading towards Hatton Place.

The suspect is described as black, 25-30 years old, 5ft 10inches to 6ft tall with an African, possibly Nigerian, accent. He was wearing a black puffa jacket, with a navy blue hoodie or scarf that was covering his face, dark trousers and dark trainers.
Detective Inspector John Kavanagh of Corstorphine CID said: “We’ve conducted extensive enquiries at the scene of what was a very distressing incident for the shopkeeper.

“Anyone who recognises the description of the suspect, or saw him in the area around this time, is urged to contact us or make an anonymously report through Crimestoppers.”
