Hibs’ Development Squad drew 0-0 with St Johnstone on Tuesday evening in the SPFL Development League.

Despite it being a home game for the Perth side, the game was played at the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie.

After the game the Hibernian’s U20 Development Coach Joe McBride told the club website: “The first half I would say 0-0 was a fair reflection, there was a lot of energy from both sides, but not a lot of quality. The second half was probably the best we played all season, in terms of being on the front foot, being aggressive, winning second balls and on top of that we played some really good football.

“The only thing that was missing was the goal. I was absolutely delighted last night, especially with the second half. We finished the game again with three under-17s on the pitch.

“One played the full game, I thought he was terrific, so it was a really positive night. The only thing missing was a goal or two.”

“It’s maybe taken even the full-time lads a bit of time to get used to the different age group and the Development League, but the last three or four games, even the defeat at St Mirren, has been a real improvement.

“We’ve not scored a lot of goals, but we’ve only lost one goal in the last three games, so that side of it is better, we just need to start hitting the net a bit more.”

Hibernian Development Squad: Brennan, Dunsmore, McGregor, Campbell, Waugh, Watson, Smith (Breen, 65), Sinclair (Scott, 65), Duthie, Trialist (Murray, 60), Shaw.
