Mark Oxley

Hibs’ goalkeeper Mark Oxley believes that he has improved since his arrival at Easter Road from Hull City however despite his good run of form, he is not complacent and knows that the pressure is on him to continue to play well, especially as Antonio Reguero is ready to take his place if his own form dips.

Oxley joined Hibs on-loan last season then made the move permanent in the summer. He has been an ever-present between the posts this season as Hibs trail Rangers by three points in the race for automatic promotion.

Speaking to Hibs TV he said:” We’ve been working hard on the training pitch. Every game is a massive game for us, and not just because it’s Falkirk. Even the week before at Alloa was a massive game for us as well. We are wary of the threat they pose and we have been working hard all week to combat whatever they throw at us.

“I’d like to think I’m improving, I’ve played a lot of games now and I wasn’t doing that at the start of my career. I had a bit of a slow start.

“So I’m happy with the amount of games that I am playing and long may that continue. I like to think that I’m doing okay, and well enough to stay in the team. I know Toni is there if I’m not performing, so I’ve got to be on it every week.

“The manager recruited well in the summer with the players he brought in. Everyone knows that they have to put in a shift, even myself, to make sure they stay in the team for next week and sometimes that’s not always the case.

“The manager has told us that what he does is for the good of the team.

“We are taking each game as it comes. We’ve got a couple of important games coming up but we have to address Saturday’s game first.”
