Councillor Richard Lewis is the convener of Culture and Sport on the City of Edinburgh Council.
His is perhaps one of the most effective sectors of the council but surprisingly the one which does not have any statutory roots whatsoever.
The council runs museums and art galleries across the city such as the Museum of Childhood where we met him to talk about his part of the revenue budget.
Councillor Lewis said: “For me what is the city about? It is about a whole wide range of offerings. It is crucial to have education but we also have to ask what is the wider cultural offering?”
