Spencerfield Spirit Company, owners of the Edinburgh Gin brand, is celebrating after an outstanding win at the International Wine & Spirit Competition. The company swept the board with a total of five awards – with four for gins and one for whisky.

The medals were awarded to:

Now in its 45th year, the IWSC is the longest running competition of its kind in the world. Its aim is to promote the quality and excellence of the world’s best wines, spirits and liqueurs, achieved through a rigorous two stage judging process of professional blind tasting and detailed chemical and microbiological analysis.

All four Edinburgh Gins were created at the Edinburgh Gin Distillery in partnership with Heriot-Watt University School of Distilling, who the distillery have an on-going relationship with.

Commenting on the awards, Alex Nicol, Managing Director for Spencerfield Spirit Company, said: “We are thrilled to have been awarded five awards at this prestigious international competition. Since opening our Edinburgh Gin distillery last year, we have worked hard on creating new and exciting gins to bring to the market and to be recognised in this way is fantastic.”

The company is experiencing a busy summer as the Edinburgh Gin brand is sponsoring the Elie Cricket Festival from 7-9 August and the Edinburgh Gin Garden is in situ at St Andrew Square, Edinburgh with festivalgoers enjoying refreshing gin cocktails and G&Ts from the Edinburgh Gin Bar and Prosecco Van and entertainment provided from the Edinburgh Gin free stage.

Drinks retailer Vino is also promoting the new Edinburgh Gin bottle, which launched earlier last month, in shop windows throughout the city.
