Save 1-6 Canonmills Bridge campaign

Greggs in Portobello has a new look

There is a licensing board meeting this morning which is convened to deal with the licences applied for at Raeburn Place when the redevelopment there is complete.

In May the Save Stockbridge campaign held a meeting which was packed out with residents and traders all objecting to the applications according to what they tell us.

The campaign resolved to take as much opposing action as they could to all the licensing applications which they think ‘excessive and inappropriate’.

A local campaign to save the buildings at 1-6 Canonmills Bridge from demolition and redevelopment is gathering some pace.

Here is an interview with local MSP Malcolm Chisholm about the reason why he supports the campaign.

“I think it is appalling that there is a proposal to demolish Earthy. We know that we need housing but these small developments in inappropriate locations are unwanted and unnecessary.”

The shop layout aims to offer customers a great shopping experience with lots of space for browsing the product ranges. Seating and free Wi-Fi is now also available for customers who wish to relax and enjoy their purchases inside the shop.

Customers can enjoy Greggs favourites such as the iconic Greggs sausage roll, jam doughnut, Greggs Yum Yum, as well as other savouries and sandwiches which will be freshly prepared throughout the day. Seasonal ranges will also be available.

Christine Carhart, shop manager at Greggs in Portobello, said: “I am very proud to be managing this new-look shop and the shop team are looking forward to hearing what the local community think of the new look.”

Raymond Reynolds, retail director for Greggs, said:  “We are delighted to be able to invest in Portobello and provide our valued customers with a modern and comfortable upgrade to the shop. This underlines our long-term commitment to the area and I’m sure it will be enjoyed by existing and new customers alike.”
