Edinburgh-based architecture and building design agency, GLM, has appointed three new staff members to its ever-growing team.

The three new team members will join GLM’s growing team as it gears up to kick off a host of new projects in 2015. The new recruits will play an instrumental part in helping GLM to deliver some of its most exciting and high profile projects to date.

GLM has welcomed skilled Building Surveyor, Greg Allen, to support the practice’s burgeoning building surveying department. Greg earned his professional accreditation at a global consultancy, AECOM, where he gained experience working on projects across the public and private sectors, developing particular expertise in education and public administration.

The architectural department has benefitted from the arrival of Architectural Assistant, David Ralph. David, a graduate of the University of Edinburgh, joins GLM from Le Chardon Service Company, a consultancy with offices in the French Alps where he was involved in the design of luxury ski chalets. David’s acute knowledge of the tourism and leisure sector will be a considerable asset to GLM as the business continues to expand its operations in these industries.

In an exciting move for the consultancy, GLM has also appointed its first ever Interior and Spatial Designer. Euan Anderson holds a degree in Interior Architecture and his appointment brings critical in-house interior design capabilities to GLM’s architecture department. Euan will collaborate closely with GLM’s architects and building surveyors to design exciting, functional uses for interior space. His role is unusual in an architectural firm, so the addition of his skillset will mean GLM will be able to provide its clients with a truly full-service design function.

These new appointments mark the end of a successful 2014 for GLM, having been awarded two RIAS awards for their stand out project, the Inn at John O’Groats. This also won them a Scottish Design Award for Regeneration. Most recently, the project received a special mention for the RIAS Doolan Award for the Best Building in Scotland.
Ian McKee, Managing Director of GLM, commented: “2014 was a significant milestone in our history, with some of our most exciting projects to date being celebrated on a national scale. The appointment of the new team members will further enhance our offering as the business pushes forward this year”.

“2015 promises to be an important year for GLM, as we plan to build on our established success by taking on even more exciting and innovative projects across the UK.”

GLM is forecasting a strong year ahead with lots of exciting projects in the pipeline, including the restoration of an A-Listed castle in East Lothian and the redevelopment of Cairngorm Mountain into the UK’s premiere ski hub and outdoor destination.
