police scotland2Police in Edinburgh are investigating a report of a firearm being discharged in the Drumbrae of Edinburgh last night.

The incident happened around 11.30pm when shots were allegedly fired at a property on Drumbrae Terrace. There are no reports of anyone having been injured as a result.

A man wearing a light coloured top and black jogging bottoms was seen in the area, near woodland, and police are now appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time, or who heard or saw any suspicious activity, to contact police on 101.

DI Allan O’Brien said: “We have a dedicated team in place to thoroughly investigate this dangerous and reckless act. Anyone who can assist in helping us trace the person responsible should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

Chief Inspector Bob Paris said: “Drumbrae is a quiet area of Edinburgh and I would like to reassure the public that incidents like this are very rare.

“We will be stepping up high visibility patrols in the area to offer community reassurance as well as carrying out door to door enquiries to speak with anyone who has information that can assist.”
