Hibs’ East of Scotland team were crowned Central Taxis First Division champions on Saturday after beating nearest challengers Easthouses Lily Miners Welfare 2-0 at the East Mains Training Centre.

Goals by youngsters Max Todd and Euan Smith secured the thee points and ensured that Hibs finished the season on top of the table.

After the game, Head of Academy Coaching James McDonaugh told Hibernian TV: “I thought the first half was a nervy affair, we never settled down until after the first quarter, but then by half time should have been ahead.

“Going into the break at 0-0, I was focused on relaxing the players and pointing out tactically what we needed to do to win the game and improve.

“Then the second half we dominated the game and played some good football. We had a few other great chances but also defended really well at the back, the back four were superb.

“Easthouses came at us at the end but we were resolute, we weren’t going to let this opportunity slip today.

“I have to give my players enormous credit for their work and ability throughout the season and their belief.”
