Two people have been arrested and charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act during Police Scotland enforcement activity to tackle serious and organised crime.

Yesterday, police in Edinburgh carried out an intelligence-led search of a property in Hawkhill Close following information relating to drug dealing. A 27-year-old woman was charged and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.

In addition, officers in the Capital carried out an unrelated search at an address in Redbraes Place on the same day and recovered a quantity of diamorphine worth around £1,600. A 37-year-old man was detained within the property and is also due in court today.

Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Houston said: “Police Scotland is committed to tackling serious organised crime and associated offences, including drug possession and distribution.

“Whenever we receive information from our communities relating to crimes of this nature we will investigate thoroughly and respond accordingly.

“Anyone who would like to report ongoing criminal activity in their area can contact us on 101 or make an anonymous report via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
