Film lovers suffering from post-Oscar depression need not fret, as the film year starts once again with this year’s preview of the Alchemy Film Festival taking place in Edinburgh tonight. Famous for embracing experimental film, the festival will announce its program for the fourth consecutive year.

Welcome to everyone who loves cinema, the programme is officially launched tonight at Summerhall, with promises of a glimpse at the 100 films set to show at the festival, which takes place in the Borders town of Hawick, between the 3rd-6th April.

Adopting the ethereal theme of ‘DreamLand’, the festival will delve into the world as a place of dreams, and the utopian dreams of a homeland. The festival’s Creative Director Richard Ashrowan says the festival will “retain its focus on the natural world but in 2014 will move beyond into the broader realm of dreams.”

Tonight’s event runs from 7 till 9pm at Summerhall. Anyone who wishes to attend must confirm their attendance before 5pm tonight, via this link.
