Hibs’ youngster Scott Martin has agreed a two-and-a-half year Academy contract with the club.

It’s been a memorable week for the 16-year-old who featured as a substitute in the under-20s’ mini Edinburgh Derby win on Tuesday night before playing for Scotland under-17s against Serbia.

Then the Glasgow-born teenager told Hibernian TV:”It was a brilliant week for me – it couldn’t have got any better.

“I’m just delighted to be a part of the under-20s squad and now I want to kick on and hopefully progress even more.”

Head of Academy Coaching James McDonaugh believes Martin has earned his contract through sheer hard work.

McDonaugh said: “Scott has worked hard to get his contract. After spending a season-and-a-half with the under-17s, he started playing for the under-20s.

“His first start at under-20 level was against Aberdeen and that convinced everybody that he was ready to now make the step up.

“Scott has got a good attitude and work-rate and has already scored goals for the club in the East of Scotland League.

“He is a good addition to the full-time under-20 squad and I look forward to seeing him continuing his progress at Hibernian.”
