Police searching for missing Edinburgh man Alistair Porteous have found a body. The 56 year old hillwalker was last seen leaving his home in The Steils, Greenbank at around 2pm on Wednesday January 29.

Police in Fort William recovered Mr Porteous’ Saab car after finding it parked at the head of Glen Nevis on Saturday morning.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland Highlands and Islands Division said: “As a result of three days of extensive searches by Police and partner agencies, including Lochaber, Glencoe, RAF and Penrith Mountain Rescue Teams, SARDA Dogs and Royal Navy Helicopter Rescue One Seven Seven, of the Glen Nevis area for missing Edinburgh man, Alistair Porteous, sadly the body of a man has been found in the Steall Falls area this afternoon.

“The family of Mr Porteous have been made aware. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
