Barrhead Travel has announced it is to invest £100,000 opening a new larger store in Edinburgh.

The company will move from its current premises in the St James Centre to a new larger 1,800 sq. ft. unit in the mall.

The new outlet will also create three new full time jobs.

The firm originally opened its store in Edinburgh in November 2007 and due to high demand from travellers, bosses have decided to invest further in the town.

Sharon Munro, chief executive of Barrhead Travel, said: “Edinburgh has been a very successful store for us and in line with our larger investment strategy in high streets across the country we will launch a new bigger store on 14 December.

“Local people have really taken to our quality affordable travel offers and the new store will allow us to build and expand on this success and offer a larger variety of travel deals than ever before.”

As part of the firm’s ongoing expansion plans, earlier this year the company announced a growth strategy to invest more than £300,000 in high street outlets across Scotland and the North of England throughout 2013/14.
