BD_logoThe Big Draw is organised across the UK by the Campaign for Drawing which is a charity set up to raise the profile of drawing. They say that their work will finish when nobody says “I can’t draw!”

During October and November there are events in Edinburgh all part of the Big Draw designed to encourage everyone and anyone to draw, and to highlight the power of drawing as a way of seeing, thinking and inventing.

There are many events in Edinburgh including these listed here:-

The City Art Centre (part of the Family Arts Festival)

The People’s Story Museum on 26 October 2013 when you are invited to draw yourself or your friends

into the story and help build a picture of the city today

Forest Centre Plus

National Museum of Scotland next weekend 26-27 October when there will also be the opportunity of watching a demonstration by the Edinburgh University School of Informatics Department and the possibility of watching 3D printers at work.

The Palace of Holyroodhouse today,21 October 2013, and Wednesday and Friday when you can dress up like royalty and then draw your experience. Artist Clare Hume will also bring Leonardo’s world to life on 27 October between 14:00-16:00 and you will be invited to create a giant drawing in the specially created Artists’ Studio.

The Royal Lyceum Theatre on 26 October 2013 when you are invited to bring your sketch pads for a morning of inspiration

The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art on 26 October when they are having a Big Hallowe’en Big Draw and you will learn how to use pen and ink techniques in the Witches Gathering.

St Martin’s Community Resource Centre on 2 November 2013 for a Family Hallowe’en Ceilidh
