The Phantom of the Fringe talks about the soul of all actors. The need to feel the truth on stage and the need to feel the truth within yourself, after you go home, after the applause. Am I really an actress? And if so, what kind of an actress am I?

The Phantom of the Fringe talks about the soul of all of us. Who am I really? What kind of person do I want to be?

The play has been written by Óscar Guedas, a graduate of RESAD (Real Escuela Superior de Arte Dramatico) who does a great job with those questions and doubts. He writes in Spanish, but the play’s going to be translated into English, to help our audience, “in Rome, live as a Roman” as we say in Israel.

We finish with a piece from the play. © Óscar Guedas

PHANTOM__. “…Theatre? Do you know what theatre is? Does anyone know what theatre is? HAHAHAHA. You have no idea. You talk about theatre and come to this place? You are blind. Blind and deaf. I have met many people in my path who believed that theatre is entertaining, and that theatre is fun, or funny, or ephemeral art or vulgar or uncomfortable or second class … (pause) all dead.”

Whether you like it or not The Phantom of the Fringe is in Edinburgh… muhahahaha!
