The Development Management Sub Committee meets tthis morning and one of the agenda items deals with the flood defence work on the Water of Leith near Warriston Road. The papers say:-“The application is for: Construction of a reinforced concrete raised walkway and floodwall structure.” The effect of some of this work has been contentious after the council felled a number of trees despite local objections. The Council report says it is minded to grant the planning application.

Tonight at the House @42 you will be entertained by an Irish trio. Here is what Douglas has to say about them:-

The Henry Girls‘ latest CD has been played a lot before and after gigs recently, and is gaining lots of compliments. The Girls are three sisters from Donegal who have a unique close harmony sound. They blend traditional Irish folk, bluegrass and Americana and are also influenced by the likes of Crosby Stills and Nash, The Dixie Chicks, The Be Good Tanyas, Alison Krauss and Joni Mitchell. The Girls have been singing, playing and writing music together for over a decade now and have a sneaky way of capturing the hearts of all those who see and hear them. They will be appearing at the House with acclaimed US singer-songwriter Ry Cavanaugh. It’s going to be one hell of a doublebill.
