The council is using its many Twitter accounts to tell you what they are up to for 24 hours beginning today at 12 noon.

Twitter24 is run by the National Communications Group in Scotland and will continue until noon tomorrow. A number of City of Edinburgh Council twitter accounts will be taking part tomorrow using the hashtags #mycouncil and #edin24. You will be able to read what each of those is saying below in our live feed.

A variety of activities are planned across the 24 hour period including a question and answer session with Council Leader Andrew Burns tonight at 6pm and a virtual bus tour of the city.

Tomorrow morning at about 9 or so The Reporter is taking part by cycling from the Red Bridge over Ferry Road down the cycle path to end up at Leith Library. One of the council officials from South West Neighbourhood team is coming too. If you are on the cycle path then give us a wave! We will be stopping to tweet safely as we go….

Last year was the first time the council took part in the event and they considered it to be a bit of a success.

Councillor Andrew Burns, Council Leader, said:- “As the world goes increasingly digital, it’s important the Council explores different ways to communicate with their residents. Twitter 24 is all about showing the public what we do day on a daily basis and also raising awareness of all our services available. As a keen ‘Tweeter’ myself I’m delighted that we’re playing our part in this national event and I hope everyone takes the opportunity to follow this unique event as it unfolds online.”

So join in! Send any messages to the council about rubbish collections, litter, council tax, planning matters or whatever is really worrying or perplexing you. You should get an answer today…..
