Edinburgh office caterer, Beetroot Blue, is adding ‘award-winning sandwiches’ to its menu after its mouth-watering masterpieces were recognised at a national industry awards ceremony.

Scooping Workplace Sandwich Provider of the Year at the British Sandwich Association’s Annual Awards Ceremony, better known as the ‘Sammies’, Beetroot Blue impressed judges with their wide selection of freshly prepared sandwich platters, innovation and general approach to office catering, and fought off stiff competition from companies across the UK to take home a slice of the glory.

The team spent the night rubbing shoulders with brands both big and small and from all sectors of the market including the likes of Marks and Spencer, Subway and Pret A Manger. The company ‘beet’ other finalists, including The Phat Pastry Company and Talkington Bates, to claim the title with its funky flavoursome fillings and bloomin’ marvellous platter presentation.

The award ceremony, conveniently held during British Sandwich Week 2011, also saw Beetroot Blue’s very own master chef, Robbie Gleave, compete as one of only two Scottish entries for ‘Sandwich Designer of the Year 2011’.  Although he lost out on the title, he most certainly caught the judges’ eyes with his creative flare and passion for quality catering.
