Marilyn begins at The Lyceum tonight. During the summer of 1960, Marilyn Monroe and French actress Simone Signoret live in adjacent apartments of the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Thrown together while Monroe films the movie Let’s Make Love with Signoret’s husband Yves Montand, the pair form an uneasy friendship, plagued by jealousy and insecurity. Under the watchful eye of Patti, hairdresser to the stars, it becomes a relationship that will test their deepest beliefs and threaten to destroy them both.

Uncover the raw complexities of celebrity lives in this fascinating portrayal of two of the world’s greatest film stars. Best known for the modern classic Bondagers, Sue Glover is a renowned Scottish writer for stage, radio and television. Booking details here.

The Save The NEN campaign is holding a public meeting at Royston Wardieburn Community Centre on March 17 at 7pm, and on 30 March West Pilton Neighbourhood Centre is the venue for NEN’s AGM/EGM.  That meeting starts at 2.30pm. What is predicted to be the last edition of the North Edinburgh News should have been delivered to homes in the district by now.

Edinburgh People’s Theatre in 84 Charing Cross Road at the Church Hill Theatre tonight at 7.30pm. In 1949 a struggling American writer started a correspondence with a firm of British antiquarian booksellers that was to last for 20 years. The warm, compassionate and very human exchange of letters was published as a book and is here skilfully and lovingly adapted for the stage.

The Fureys and Davey Arthur at The Queen’s Hall tonight at 8.00pm. These legends of Irish music will be making their 5th appearance for a special St Patrick’s week concert. George, Eddie and Davey have thrilled audiences around the world with their songs, music and stories for 33 years where their audiences have included Tony Blair, Mary McAleese, former Australian Prime Minister John Howard and Pope John Paul.

In the late 60’s the oldest brother Eddie Furey lived in Scotland where he shared accommodation and music with the great Scottish Folk Musicians of the time such as Billy Connolly and Gerry Rafferty.

Film director, Bertrand Tavernier, is at The Filmhouse tonight in person. Tavernier will take part in a Q&A following a screening of his latest film, The Princess of Montpensier, on Friday 18 March. One of France’s most versatile and respected directors, Tavernier’s films include ‘Round Midnight, It All Starts Today, The Bait, Death Watch and Life and Nothing But. The Princess of Montpensier is a thrilling 16th-century drama of passion, swordplay and political intrigue.

Tonight and tomorrow only The Traverse is putting on the play Roman Bridge at 8.30pm,  and the tickets have no price – you simply pay what you can. A deadly epidemic is choking Europe leaving only the fit and lucky alive. Society has broken down and superstition and religious intolerance are rife. Somewhere in rural Lanarkshire Craw leads Catherine to an ancient stone bridge and the promise of a new life.

Set in another Scotland, Roman Bridge is a play about survival, sacrifice, murder, and love – and asks if we can ever truly leave the past behind to make a new life.
