A prestigious diving event will take place this coming weekend at the Royal Commonwealth Pool when some of the UK’s most talented divers take part in the Scottish National & Open Diving Championship.
The highlight of the competitive diving calendar in Scotland, The Scottish National & Open Diving Championship will feature Commonwealth Games diver Freddie Woodward, Junior European bronze medalist Jack Haslam, Junior European silver medalist Ross Haslam and Edinburgh’s very own James Heatly and Grace Reid.
James recently won a trio of medals including gold in the men’s 3m springboard event at the European Games in Baku. The talented young 18 year-old also enjoyed medal success with his Edinburgh Diving Club team-mate Grace Reid claiming a mixed 3m springboard synchronised bronze medal in their World Series debut in May 2015.
The Scottish National & Open Diving Championships are unique as a novice competition – The Thistle Trophy, also runs throughout the senior event allowing many young aspiring divers to compete alongside established divers, many of whom have represented their country and GB on the Commonwealth and international stage.
With such an abundance of talent on display, there promises to be no shortage of spectacular springboard and platform diving action taking place.
Entry to the Scottish National & Open Diving Championships is free all weekend.
