In April 2027 (Thursday 15th to Sunday 18th), Alchemy: Goldsmiths Scotland will open its doors for the first time.
Hosted at Edinburgh’s renowned City Art Centre, Alchemy is led by a four-strong female team from the capital’s thriving contemporary jewellery and silver scene.
Supported by The Goldsmiths’ Company and Goldsmiths’ Fair, Alchemy will bring together 50 of the finest contemporary jewellers and silversmiths from across the UK for a four-day selling fair, exhibition and cultural programme, aimed at buyers, collectors, enthusiasts and professionals from across Scotland and beyond.
Recognising excellence in craft, Alchemy promises to bring to Scotland’s capital city a world-class showcase of talent, alongside an inspiring and educational programme of public events, interactive learning opportunities, and professional development strands.
It will be the first event of its kind since the closure of Elements: Festival of Jewellery, Silver and Gold which ran for nine years in the city up until 2021.
Alchemy is further supported by a range of industry partners, including Hamilton & Inches, TH March, Argex and The Curious Gem.
The Alchemy team, made up of well-known figures from the jewellery world in Scotland and beyond, Elizabeth Goring, Sarah Hutchison, Bryony Knox and Eda Obermanns, said: “We are so pleased to announce Alchemy to the world at last! Ever since the wonderful Elements Festival ended there has been a gap in the contemporary jewellery and silversmithing world in Scotland. All four of us have felt passionately ever since that we needed to fill that void with something equally inspiring.
Opening in April 2027, Alchemy will offer a vibrant, exciting new space, where makers, buyers and collectors can meet face-to-face, and where the finest craftsmanship from all over the UK is on show; where new connections can be made and old ones rekindled — to the benefit of all.
The aim is to make Alchemy an annual celebration of jewellery and silversmithing, and to be bringing our collective dream alive in our home city, in Edinburgh’s iconic City Art Centre, is absolutely thrilling.”
