Josh Mulligan is determined to repay the fans after winning the Young Player of the Year award following a superb debut season in 2025/26.
The 23-year-old produced a series of dazzling displays and crucial moments, including a Goal of the Season contender in Hibs 2-0 Premier Sports Cup win at Livingston in August.
Mulligan’s energy and ability on the ball captured the supporters’ imagination and drew comparisons to Scotland and Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn – one of Hibs best players of this century.
“It’s a massive honour to pick up this award for the season,” Mulligan told Hibs TV.
“It means a lot to me, and I just want to thank all the fans, especially, for voting.
“The support they’ve shown me since I’ve come in has been massive for me, and I’m hopeful just to repay them back on the pitch.
“It’s been a bit up and down this season, obviously.
“The first six months were unbelievable. To be a part of our journey in Europe was so good, and it was a dream come true, really.
“I was playing at a high level, and it was some of the best football of my career, so now I’m just looking to get back to playing at that standard, and I can’t wait to get going again.
“Then, obviously, I got injured [in January], and, yes, it’s been frustrating, but I’ve just got my head down in the gym and worked my way back, and now I’m looking forward to next season.”
Mulligan returned after a four-month lay-off against Rangers last week, and the no 20 is already excited for the 2026/27 season.
He added: “Individually it’s ended the season on the high, being back out on the pitch, especially at Easter Road in front of the fans.
“That felt good being back out there, and I’m just looking forward to doing that again next season.
“The support they (the fans) have shown me has been massive for me. The confidence it’s given me – I really want to thank them, and I’m just hopeful I can repay them on the pitch.
“I just can’t wait to get going again.”
