Dalkeith Petanque Club ladies section will mark International Women’s Day on 8 March with a fund-raising melée in aid of Breast Cancer Research.
Organiser Alison Irvine says it is hope to raise around £1,000 through entry fees, a raffle, donations etc.
Alison said: “This just seemed an ideal way to mark International Women’s Day and the event, which will start at 11am and anticipate running until about 3pm depending on numbers is open to all.
“Although our club has only been going for about 18 months we already have 20 lady members and hopefully others will be recruited on the day so as to enjoy what is a really fast growing sport.”
