Edinburgh teenager Ksawery Frozynski has been crowned a world champion after an impressive performance at the Amateur World Powerlifting Congress (AWPC) in Manchester.
The 16-year-old, who trains and represents Titan Strong Edinburgh, competed in the Teen 2 category up to 82.5kg and produced a bench press of 115kg, securing the gold medal and the global title.
The result is the latest achievement in a remarkable year for the young athlete.
Earlier this year Ksawery competed at the Polish Championships, winning gold in both bench press and strict curl. He also set a new world record in strict curl, adding to a burgeoning sporting cv.
Ksawery’s father, Krzysztof Frozynski, also competed at the AWPC World Championships in Manchester. He won the Masters 3 category up to 140kg, bench pressing 200kg and setting a new UK record.
Father and son train together and are proud to represent The Bonnington-based Titan Strong as well as Edinburgh at national and international competitions.
For Ksawery, the World Championship represents an important milestone at the beginning of what the family hopes will be a long sporting career.
“We are extremely proud of Ksawery” said proud dad Krzysztof, adding: “He works very hard in training and competing alongside his father gives us both great motivation. Winning the World Championship at 16 is a fantastic achievement.”
