Police Scotland has issued a list of things to look out for following a rise in Hare Coursing.
This crime is where dogs are used to chase, hunt and kill hares.
Hare coursing is illegal, causes severe distress to wildlife, and damages farmland.
Spot the signs:
Unfamiliar vehicles parked on rural tracks, field gates, or entering private land without permission.
Groups or individuals gathering in the countryside with lurchers, greyhounds, or other sight hounds.
Individuals scouting fields or using dogs to chase wildlife.
Suspects walking centrally across a stubble field in an organised manner.
Anyone with concerns can call 999 in an emergency, 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Please never approach or confront suspects yourself. If safe to do so, note down vehicle registration numbers, descriptions, and locations.
