Hibs have played two games a week since their return to competitive action in the middle of July and face a further hectic few weeks.
Since arriving on loan from EFL Championship side Stoke City, Nathan Lowe has featured in all seven matches so far, and while the fixture schedule isn’t something he has been used to throughout his young career, it is something he has embraced.
The busy period continues when we face Partick Thistle in the Premier Sports Cup Second Round on Sunday, and with Hampden just two victories away, Lowe says he and his teammates are looking to embark on a cup run.
Speaking after Hibs victory in North Macedonia on Thursday, he said: “I think this is probably, to be honest, the most attainable of all the trophies this season, so I think that’s why there’s a big emphasis on trying to win on Sunday.
“We’re two games away from Hampden, and I’d love to play at Hampden, and I’m sure the team would as well.
“We want to progress as far as we can in the competition, and we believe that we can be competitive. I think that everyone in that changing room thinks that we’ve got a right chance.
“The Head Coach talks about when he got to lift a trophy and score the winner himself, which was one of the best moments of his career, and he wants that for all of us.
“He wants that elation, being able to parade around the city and feeling victorious. That’s what you strive for as a footballer.
“It doesn’t get much better than that, so we don’t really need any more motivation on that front.
“I think we all know the task at hand, and we’re going to go into it giving 100 per cent effort and hopefully progressing to the next round.”
Hibs are now now in the UEFA Conference League Play-Off Round, having defeated KF Malisheva and KF Shkëndija.
“That was the aim (to get to the UEFA Conference League Play-Off Round).
“It didn’t really matter how it looked. It was just about getting the result, and, thankfully we did.
“Obviously, we would have liked it to be in different terms and playing some silkier football, but at the end of the day, getting through to the next round is all that matters.
“I’m enjoying playing every Thursday and Sunday, and it’s the best way.
“It’s been a different experience for me here, as they’ve just about finished pre-season in England, but it’s one I’ve enjoyed.
“It’s much better playing for things and playing in competitive fixtures, and you can see from the desire and togetherness of the team, no one wanted it to end, no one wanted our journey to end, and I’m really proud of the boys for pulling through tonight.
“We know we’re almost at the League Phase, and that’s the attraction of getting through ties like tonight, where you can play some really big teams.
“That’s an attractive proposition for me personally and for the team.
“That’s everyone’s aim: to go and make Hibs successful on the pitch, and everyone will benefit themselves as well, and it’s mutually beneficial for all.”
