Earlier this week, police officers in East Lothian were involved in a coordinated approach to tackle the anti-social use of Suron e-bikes being ridden in a dangerous and antisocial manner, speeding through traffic and wheeling up and down the High Street, Musselburgh.
There have been numerous reports and complaints from members of the public of the past few weeks regarding this and Police Scotland are taking a proactive approach in dealing with this.
Officers successfully apprehended a male and seized his e-bike.
He was subsequently charged with several Road Traffic Offences and was also involved in an assault and vandalism in the area.
A police spokesperson said: “During the night of the 20/07/26 officers in Musselburgh seized a Surron e-bike from a 17 year old male who was arrested, cautioned and charged with offences under the Road Traffic Act.
“This highlights the irresponsible way these bikes are used, placing not only members of the public at risk of serious injury, but also the riders themselves.
