Edinburgh’s historic Royal College of Physicians has appointed Hampden Bank Chief Financial Officer Jonathan Peake as its new treasurer to help guide its long-term financial strategy.
Mr Peake, who joined the city-based private bank in 2022, will oversee the college’s financial portfolio and support its ongoing learning and professional development programmes.
With over two decades of financial sector experience, Mr Peake spent more than six years as CFO at Standard Bank International before joining Hampden Bank in 2022.
He has previously held senior risk management and forensic audit positions at Deutsche Bank International and KPMG, and qualified as a chartered accountant with PwC.

Professor Mark Strachan, President of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, welcomed the appointment, noting that Mr Peake’s background in governance will support the College’s trustees.
Professor Strachan said: “We are extremely pleased to have appointed Jonathan Peake as the College’s new Treasurer. He has a vast amount of experience in the financial sector and in governance and this will be invaluable to the College as we go forward.
“I, our office-bearers and the College’s Board of Trustees all look forward to working closely with Jonathan as we seek to position the College in the best possible place to support our Fellows and Members effectively as they progress through their careers.”
Mr Peake said his appointment comes at an exciting time for the RCPE as it expands its international learning and career development initiatives.
Mr Peake said: “The College’s purpose, in particular its commitment to fostering an environment of learning, career development, and educational support for all its fellows and members, resonates strongly with my values.
“I hope to bring my experience as a chief financial officer and head of risk to benefit the College and its members.”
