Hit Edinburgh police drama Dept. Q has officially started production on its second season, with filming to take place in the capital once again.
The streaming giant announced the cast list and the start of production for the second series of the show, which tells the story of DCI Carl Morck, who heads up the maverick Dept. Q from the basement of a police station in the Scottish capital, charged with cases previously deemed unsolvable.
Matthew Goode will return as DCI Morck along with his team of misfits – Alexej Manvelov as Akram Salim, Leah Byrne as DC Rose Dickson and Jamie Sives as DS James Hardy.
The series also welcomes new cast members Aisling Franciosi as Kimmie, Greg Wise as Derek Powell, Nicholas Rowe as Thomas Fulton, Tony Curran as Winnie Calderwood, Hamish Clark as Christopher Herron, Alex Ferns as Phil Allenbeck, Ross Anderson as Ricky Daddario, Rebecca Root as June Lovesay, Isla Johnston as Agnes and Amy Brenneman as Helen.
Other returning cast members include Mark Bonnar as Stephen Burns, Kate Dickie as Moira Jacobson, Aaron McVeigh as Jasper and Sanjeev Kohli as Martin Flemming.
Netflix has confirmed that season two will be filmed and set in Edinburgh once again, following the success of the location in the first season.
The debut season’s shocking twists and turns captivated audiences and resulted in it spending six weeks in the Global Top Ten shows on Netflix.
The series is an adaptation of Jussi Adler-Olsen’s Danish Nordic noir crime novels, which run under the series title of the same name.
Dept. Q is written and directed by Scott Frank and produced by Left Bank Pictures for Netflix.
