Media reports indicate that Hearts have made a seven-figure offer to York City for defender Malachi Fagan-Walcott.
The 24-year-old centre-half has still to agree personal terms but the player began his career at Tottenham Hotspur and then had loan spells at Dunfermline and Dundee.
This season the London-born player has made over 30 appearances for the York club and Hearts need cover as Craig Halkett is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines with an Achilles injury.
However, defender M J Kamson-Kamara is coming to Tynecastle from Lincoln City.
Meanwhile, reports also indicate that winger Islam Chesnokov is heading back to Kazakhstan.
