The Parsons Green School community are closing in on a £30,000 target to refresh the playground at the Meadowfield establishment.
Central to the project has been the efforts of the pupils themselves who undertook a 6k sponsored walk around Arthur’s Seat and raised £6000 while local businesses have contributed £950 and counting. These are Lumen Electrical, Xchart, Confelicity Bakery and Ooni.
The aim is to have reached the objective by the end of June so that new facilities can start to be put in place next term.
Hilary Roberts, chair of the school’s Parent Council, said: “The head teacher, Susan Cochrane, put this challenge up to us and the refresh was overdue.
“Modern play equipment is to be installed for the younger ones and there will be a trim trail and astro turf football pitch for five-a-sides.
“The school has had a willow garden but that needs to be re-formed so it isn’t just a wind tunnel.
“It is all coming together but as a final piece on the jig-saw we would like to hear from any former pupils, including celebs, who might be able to assist.”
