Around 800 competitors have come to Meadowbank Sports Centre for the Scottish Pickleball Open.
The fast growing sport which involves using a padel and perforated ball to play on a badminton-sized court has attracted individuals from as far afield as the USA, Pakistan and Germany while there is a particularly high entry from the Republic of Ireland.
Action started on Wednesday and runs until Sunday in a variety of categories including age-groups, youth and wheelchair.
A leading attraction will be Paul van Loon, a Netherlands internationalist who lives in Edinburgh while Charlie Dembrey has just medalled in the Paris Open and also takes part.
