The Rt Hon Lord Provost of Edinburgh, Robert Aldridge and the Lord Provost Consort, Colin Cunningham had pride of place in the parade on Sixth Avenue on Saturday walking with the Brand Scotland group.
After the march from the Algonquin Hotel in the Theatre District, the duo ascended the double decker bus at the end of the avenue to wave to all the participants representing a variety of clans, organisations and businesses.
Edinburgh and Scotland was also represented by The Presiding Officer, Alison Johnstone, who led a smaller parliamentary delegation than usual owing to the election, the Universities of Edinburgh and Edinburgh Napier.

Actor Sam Heughan led off the NYC Tartan Day Parade 2026 dressed in a Harris tweed kilt outfit made by Howie Nicolsby of 21st Century Kilts on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile.
The Outlander star is used to the event – this is the second time he has been Grand Marshal, last appearing at the height of his fame in 2016.
Based on Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling books, Outlander follows Claire Fraser (Caitríona Balfe), a former World War II nurse who travels through a mysterious stone circle to 18th-century Scotland, where she falls in love with Highland warrior Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan). The historical fantasy drama is currently airing its eighth and final season, on MGM+ in the UK and STARZ in the U.S.
