A new council-backed initiative is being launched to tackle litter in Craigmillar and Edinburgh.
Set to launch at an event today at the White House in Craigmillar, the new Keep Craigmillar Clean Campaign and the Big Spring Clean initiative is being fronted by the Craigmillar and Niddrie Litter Busters.
The initiative is set to build on the success achieved by local volunteers and the city council in Craigmillar.
The group is announcing three dates for its Big Spring Clean and aims to repeat its Looney Clean up, which took place on New Years Day this year.
The Litter Busters were highlighted for praise recently by the Prime Minister at the launch of the Pride in Place initiative which has awarded £20m to The Niddrie, Bingham, Magdalene and The Christians.
Also, Paws on Plastic, the leading environmental charity is launching its first city campaign to recruit dog walkers in the Nation’s capital.
Paws on Plastic volunteers currently lift more than 42 million pieces of litter in more than 70 countries. The group was recently given the Kings Award for Voluntary Service.
The event will be joined by City of Edinburgh Council Leader Jane Meagher, Marion Montgomery of Paws on Plastic and Miranda Baird of The Craigmillar and Niddrie Litter Busters.
The event will be chaired by Susan Carr of The Craigmillar Community Alliance Trust.
