Cnood-Wenchong Heavy Industries (CWHI) has delivered the first batch of 15 fully commissioned transition pieces for the Inch Cape offshore wind farm to the Port of Leith.
The company say the structures were transported from its yard in November and arrived in Scotland aboard the COSCO heavy-lift vessel HUA SHENG LONG.
According to CWHI, each transition piece stands up to 28 metres tall, has an 8.3-metre outer diameter and weighs about 600 tonnes.
A company spokesperson said that the arrival marks the next critical step toward offshore installation and reinforces its role as the first Chinese supplier to deliver fully commissioned transition pieces for the project.
Dale Young, chief development officer of CWHI, said: “The successful arrival of the first batch of Transition Pieces at the Port of Leith demonstrates the strong collaboration between our teams, logistics partners, and the Inch Cape project.
“With subsequent batches already in preparation and transit planning underway, we look forward to the arrival of the next batch in the near future as the project progresses toward offshore installation.”
CWHI say the project will play a vital role in supplying low-carbon electricity to the UK and reflects the shared commitment of partners to advancing renewable energy and net-zero goals.
