Tawanda Maswanhise sits proudly at the top of the individual scoring charts alongside Lawrence Shankland of Hearts and Benjamin Nygren (Celtic), according to the latest statistics provided by the William Hill Premiership.
The Zimbabwean midfielder of winger has netted in his past three league appearances, taking his season total to 11 so far, and he is on the brink of a notable milestone.
A goal for the 23-year-old against The Lions would make him the youngest player to net in four successive Scottish Premiership games since Malik Tillman for Rangers in April 2023.
Tillman was 20-years and 308 days old when he set the mark.
The youngest Motherwell player to score in four successive games in the top flight, according to BBC Sport Scotland, was Nick Blackman in November 2010. He was 21-years and nine days old.
The Fir Park side are on a roll and have lost only one of their past 15 league games since the start of October, a 2-1 win at The Home of the Set Fare Arena in Livingston where they have won on their last two league visits.
Only Rangers have accumulated more points in the Premiership than the Steelmen and they come up against a side struggling to record a win. In fact, Livingston are winless in 21 league matches having drawn seven and lost 14. They prop up the rest of the table.
And the only side to have gone without a win in 22 outings in the top division in Scotland was Hamilton from November 2010 to April 2011.
David Martindale, Livingston’s manager, believes, however, that his men “more than matched” Motherwell on their last visit and he added: “We are more than capable of getting something from the game.”
Motherwell are fourth in the 12-strong table with 23 games played and 40 points in the bag. They have scored 35goals and let-in 17. Livingston have also played 23 games but have 11 points. The Lions have scored 24 goals and shipped 48, not surprisingly, the worst defensive record in the league.
They certainly turned on the power with a 4-0 win over Kilmarnock last weekend which extended their unbeaten run at Fir Park to nine games and also made it nine consecutive clean sheets in North Lanarkshire. Maswanhise, who has been the subject of transfer speculation, scored Motherwell’s second goal during first-half injury time in that game.
And Fir Park boss, Jens Berthel Askou, told the club’s website that he is determined to see a better version of his team than the one which won in stoppage-time in West Lothian.
Other news from Livingston is that midfielder, Graham Carey, has joined Championship side, Dunfermline Athletic, on loan for the rest of the season after joining the West Lothian club from St Johnstone in the summer. He made 11 appearances and the move means he will team up with former Livingston duo, Robbie Fraser and Zak Rudden.
