Fife Flyers lost 4-1 at Sheffield Steelers as the Yorkshire side ended a three-game losing streak.
Stephen Harper netted a double in the welcome win for the men from The House of Steel, but Fife enjoyed the better of the opening minutes.
However, they lost the first session 2-0, drew the middle period 1-1 and lost the third 1-0.
Elsewhere, Cardiff Devils beat Dundee Stars 5-2 and the Tayside team remain bottom of the ten-strong division by a point from Flyers.
Manchester Storm lost 6-4 at home to Belfast Giants while Glasgow Clan were beaten 4-1 at Braehead by Coventry Blaze.
Finally, league pace-setters, Nottingham Panthers won 2-1 after overtime in the Lace City against Guildford Flames.
Sunday’s matches see Dundee at home against Guildford on Tayside (17.00) with Glasgow at Nottingham, Coventry hosting Belfast and Fife entertaining Manchester Storm (17.00).
