Members of the Children’s Parliament celebrated World Children’s Day on Friday with a giant billboard.
They are celebrating their involvement in the Talbot Rice Gallery’s current exhibition The Children are Now.
The billboard on Market Street shows the children pictured with placards created for the exhibition.
Each of these highlights an urgent issue affecting children across the country, including vaping, mental health and bullying in schools, and climate crisis education. Established by the United Nations in 1954, World Children’s Day promotes children’s rights and improvements to child welfare worldwide.
The billboard has been transformed by the gallery working with Children’s Parliament and creative agency Jack Arts, to help raise public awareness of these issues.
Members of Children’s Parliament meet with the First Minister and Scottish Cabinet at St Andrew’s House, Edinburgh. The annual Cabinet Takeover meeting with Children’s Parliament and Scottish Youth Parliament members was led by children and young people, who shared their perspectives on urgent issues affecting children and young people across Scotland.
