Edinburgh were winners of the Tennis Scotland 8 & under Inter-Club Finals at Glasgow’s Scotstoun Leisure Centre.

The successful team of twins Louis and Callum Watson alongside Grace Sturrock and Mathilde Fichard-Gibbons originally battled against seven other Edinburgh clubs at their local event in September to book their place in the finals which were held alongside an ITF World Tennis Tour event with spectators present.

The capital youngsters, coached by Michael Millar, had to overcome the strongest teams from six other Scottish districts.

Michael said: “I have the pleasure of working with these young players on court every week both individually and in group lessons. This is such a fantastic reward for all their hard work and dedication to the sport.

“I’m hoping it serves as motivation for them to keep training and competing as they grow as players and people over the years to come! It’s a long journey and they’re just getting started!”

Michael actually holds a dual role as lead coach of both Edinburgh Tennis and the 11 and under East of Scotland County Programme. Edinburgh Tennis, a partnership of Michael Millar and Finn Mclean’s coaching expertise, has grown to be one of the most respected clubs and coaching programmes in the city and offers tuition to juniors and adults who are playing at all levels from total beginners to county and even UK national level.
