Hibernian Women’s head coach Grant Scott admitted his ‘frustration’ at his side’s failure to keep up performance levels from a strong first half at Easter Road yesterday afternoon.
Hibs dominated the first-half over city rivals Hearts in the Capital Cup.
Ellis Notley put Scott’s side ahead on the brink of half-time, but a brace from Carly Johns and a strike from Bayley Hutchison ensured the Capital Cup stayed in Gorgie.
After the final whistle Scott told Hibs TV: “I’m surprised, yet not surprised I suppose. I think we were very good in the first half. We settled in quite well, minimised harsh opportunities. And never got to those levels again in the second.
“The result is frustrating. But my biggest frustration is that that’s not the first time this season we’ve done that. We’ve either had a poor first half and gone on in the second, or vice versa. And we’ve done it again today.
“I think it’s a challenge that we need to look at as a group. And find a way to eke out that level of performance across 90 minutes rather than 45. That’s the most disappointing thing for us today.”
Over 4,700 supporters watched on from the stands in Leith, and Scott was not pleased with the Hibs performance on display to them from the restart until full-time.
“You can lose games, but there’s a way to lose. And I don’t think we’ve done that well today.”
“They picked up their momentum. And their intensity levels of their work certainly went higher than the first half. And I think equally, ours dropped off.
“They worked a bit harder, more intense than they did in the first half. But I just thought our level just didn’t ever reach where we were in the first half.”
Goal scorer Notley added: “Obviously the result is disappointing overall.
“I think the second half is unacceptable from us as a whole. We were nowhere near in the game, miles off it.
“The first half I felt like we were on top, we were aggressive in the press, we moved the ball well. It was just a disappointing second half to be honest.
“I think we’ll need to look at the positives and see what we did well and what we can take forward.
“I think there’s a lot of learnings from that game and I think that needs to be our main focus going into next week.
