Fife Flyers have confirmed the signing of forward Giordano Finoro who arrives in the Kingdom from IF Troja-Ljungby in the Swedish second tier.
He has been brought in to bolster Fife’s injury-hit attack.
The player is no stranger to silverware having picked up the AlpsHL Championship, Italy Championship and the Italian Supercup Championship, all with Asiago.
During his time in Italy, the player spent a season with HC Bolzano in the ICEHL as well as icing with Team Italy on the international stage.
Fife Flyers’ president, Max Birbraer, said: “Apart from deepening our line-up, this addition will also help us in areas in need such as the face-off circle and goalscoring. I’m super excited to see Gio in action.”
There was disappointment for Fife fans as Drydn Dow kept his cool to net in the shootout as Dundee Stars came from behind to edge arch rivals Flyers, at The Fife Ice Arena in the Challenge Cup.
Earlier, Vastimil Dostalek opened the scoring for the home side after 1min 10sec when he was set up by Mason Alderson and the scoreline stayed that way until 23min 15sec when Stars levelled through Matthew Boudens. Assists from Morten Jurgens and Dow.
And the visitors went ahead after 35min 48sec through Kameron Keilly on the power play with Otto Nieminen and Matt Berry setting up the opportunity. Jaka Strum was in the sin bin for tripping.
It was level again at 2-2 when Ethan Somoza was provided by a pass from Josh Winquist with the clock on 49min 11sec.
The match went into overtime and then to a shootout.
