Hibernian Women’s head coach Grant Scott described last night’s 1-1 draw with Glasgow City as a “good point” earned.

Eilidh Adams opened the scoring for the Hibernian Women after 20 minutes with a great first-time volley inside the box from a quality Rosie Livingstone cross. The lead didn’t last long however, as Katie Lockwood equalised for the visitors just 12 minutes later.

Glasgow City were reduced to ten players in the 85th minute, as the referee decided to send off Lana Golob for cynically bringing down Adams in a goalscoring opportunity for the Scotland international as she pushed to double her account for the evening.

Hibernian could not capitalise on the red card, as the two sides could not be separated by full-time.

“I think it was a reasonably good game,” Scott told Hibs TV.  “It was a hard-fought game.

“I’m not sure the quality was always there from both teams, but you never know how vital these points that you pick up against your competitors are going to be in the end.

“We were here for three (points). I’m not entirely sure we deserved it. I’m thinking on the balance of playing the last spell of the game, I felt we busied their box more than they did ours tonight.

“But there was not the best quality in our execution. I think it’s a good point, but we’ll wait and see in the long run.”

Scott believes there were enough “good moments” in the draw, against a side who headed into the match with a 100% league record, to take into their Sky Sports Cup tie at home to Motherwell on Sunday 5 October.

“I think that’s two or three performances in a row now that we’ve looked a bit more like ourselves. We are very hungry for more success on the pitch.

“We’re always looking at the games to try and win. We’re very respectful of our opposition, but I think there are enough good moments in the game tonight that we can be very positive and try to take those into the game on the weekend.”

He is expecting Motherwell’s visit to Meadowbank on Sunday to be a “competitive match,” as he praised his upcoming opponents ahead of the match.

“We’re just looking to go on a run of games where we try and win.

“We’ve had a busy schedule with the European stuff. It was a little bit more difficult to win those games, particularly against Inter Milan.

“We’re going into the game trying to win it. There’s no doubt about that. I think Motherwell, Paul (Brownlie), always has his teams well organised and well drilled.

“They’ll have some surprises up their sleeve, I’m sure. There’s always a little twist when he plays us, for sure. I think it’ll be a competitive match, but we’re looking to play well and see what the result is at the end.”
