Rosie Livingstone says it’s an ‘honour’ to play at Easter Road

Rosie Livingstone claims it is an honour to play at Easter Road, a stadium she considers to be the best in the world.

She also revealed that ties against clubs such as Inter Milan “give you that bit of hunger to come back and play more European football” following our Europa Cup clash against the Italian giants.

Hibernian hosted Inter at Easter Road Stadium for the second leg of the UEFA Europa Cup first qualifying round.

Heading into the game, the visitors held a 4-1 lead on aggregate. Despite some strong chances from both Eilidh Adams and Kathleen McGovern throughout the game, a late stoppage-time goal from Masa Tomasevic ultimately brought the Hibees’ run in Europe to an absolute end. 

Although Hibs were unable to find the net, many positives could be found in the teams display. Reflecting on the game, Livingstone expressed her pride in the performance of the team.

“I think it’s a hard one going into being 4-1 down on aggregate. It’s a weird one, having lost 1-0, but I do think that it’s a performance that we can be proud of. 

“I think all the girls can hand on heart say that they sort of gave it their all and we showed our old selves again.”

It was an extra special performance as over 1,600 fans were in attendance at Easter Road, including Livingstone’s family and friends. 

“I always think it’s an honour to play at Easter Road, being a Hibs fan.”

“I think it’s the best stadium in the world. I was just saying in a different interview that if you told 10-year-old Rosie that I would have played Inter Milan at Easter Road with the crowd that came out tonight, it was amazing. I think I’d bite your arm off.”

“Especially also to do it in front of my family that never got to come out to Italy is amazing. They mean so much to me and they’ve really been there for me since the start.”

Despite the disappointment from an early exit from the competition, Livingstone expressed her determination of wanting to return to Europe and how the team will build on their performance for the next league game on Sunday against Celtic.

“I think nights like tonight just give you a bit of hunger to want to come back and play more European football. 

“I made my Champions League and Europa Cup debut just within one season now, it definitely gives you a little bit of heart, to say why not go and do it again.

“It’s a perfect opportunity to sort of bounce back from the game against Celtic and take every bit of positive reflection of this game into the weekend.”
