Scottish Historic Buildings Trust and the Tron Kirk
Scottish Historic Buildings Trust are running a short survey on the Tron Kirk and they need people to answer this with their views.
You can access the survey here to help shape the future of the 17th century church which was placed on the Buildings at Risk Register in 2003. SHBT are now developing plans for its future restoration.
Art at the Paper Factory
From 25 to 28 September the Paper Factory will once more become a pop up arts venue as Visual Art Scotland stage a takeover of the space.
The showcase, entitled “Edge of Matter”, is a collaboration between Hidden Door who first took over the 15 acre site for their festival earlier in the year, and Visual Arts Scotland, a leading platform for national and international contemporary artists.
A spokesperson said: “These bold, brilliant creatives will transform the building with work that defies the limits of traditional galleries, creating a diverse and immersive showcase of work.”
Opening Night: Thursday, 25 September, 5-7pm
Exhibition continues on Friday 26, Saturday 27 and Sunday 28, 11am – 4pm

A shortlist of 22 talented graduates have been selected to showcase their work alongside a cohort of 16 emerging artists chosen by Hidden Door.
The artists selected by Visual Arts Scotland are: Alex Winton, Amy Robson, Daye Allen, Ellis Bairstow, Emilia Munton Evans, Emily McClatchie, Finn Trevor, Holly Stitt, Jan McCormack, Jessie Dundas, Julia Ashe, Kiera Walsh, Kieran Dunning, Laura Compton, Leah Macmillan, Maya Hall de Bueno, Mia Coutts, Natalia Borjarska, Oli Turner, Rose Kelly, Rosie Andrew andThomas Arnold.
Hidden Door’s selected artists are: Claire Marion Black, Dora Zoi, Eilidh Appletree, Esther Stone, Fae Ross, Fae Rodgers, Holly Booth, Irene Aldazabal, Liz McNeill, Maria McStay, Martha Williams, Niamh Finnigan, Rose Hodgson Smith, Ruaridh Litster-Campbell, San Zhang andZeena Wright-Al Tai.

Edinburgh Cocktail Week 2025
The capital is about to become Scotland’s cocktail playground as Edinburgh Cocktail Week returns bigger and better than ever
From Friday, 3 October to Sunday, 12 October, the cocktail festival will transform Scotland’s capital into a mixology lover’s paradise, with more than 25,000 visitors expected to have a sip.
Your Song
At the Mound this weekend on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 September, Your Song will celebrate the nation’s hidden voices by giving non-professional singers the chance to perform a song that holds deep personal meaning to them. From original compositions to covers of rock anthems, these powerful performances will take place on a pop-up stage which is equipped with a house band.
Hidden from the singers during their performances, series mentors Paloma Faith and Sam Ryder will emerge to offer their expertise and heartfelt reactions. Alongside the mentors, host Alison Hammond will bring her trademark compassion, humour, and unique ability to connect with the singers – encouraging them to open up and tell their story.
The public are welcome to come along and watch some of the finest local talent have their moment in the limelight accompanied by a top-class live band.
Paloma Faith said: “The most inspiring and wonderful thing for me in music are the personal stories of individual people. I am delighted to take part in your song so I can be closer to that inspiration.”
Sam Ryder said: “I’m so stoked to be a mentor on Your Song! The show is all about celebrating grass roots talent across the country, and hearing their stories through music, which I can’t wait to encourage and uplift. I can’t wait to get out on the road and meet everyone!”
Alison Hammond said: “I love the power that music and singing your heart out has, it can literally change your mood – put a smile on your face, make you sad, make you reminisce, so I’m really excited about this new show which is about real people telling us their stories, through song….let’s hit the road!”
