Jamie Duguid, the new Lothians’ men’s golf champion, proudly displays his trophy after a 4 & 3 victory over Bathgate member Scott McCandless at Duddingston.
Undoubtedly some local knowledge played a part as Jamie, although entered out of Dunbar, is also a member of the host club.
After qualifying for the match play stage Jamie defeated Graham Robertson (6 & 5), Andrew Benson (2&1) and Michael Bacigalupo (2&1).
After the Lothians’ event Jamie carried his magnificent form into the Scottish amateur championship at Gullane. However after winning through to the knock out stages and completing two victories he fell at the quarter final.
In registering his win Jamie became the 10th golfer associated with Duddingston to lift the trophy following on from Archie Lowrie (1963), Ronnie Shade (1964), Alastair Low (1965), Billy Davidson (1973), Ian Stavert (1977), Colin Christy (1979), Stuart Smith (1986, 1993, 1994 and 1995), Brian Smith (2002) and David Millar (2014).
