West Lothian’s Voluntary Sector Gateway hopes to give a helping hand to anyone thinking of setting up a social enterprise.
The Gateway, which acts as an umbrella and support agency for charity groups across the county, is looking to encourage the development of home-grown business ideas which help local communities thrive.
One of West Lothian’s most successful social enterprise companies is The Larder which provides skills training to young people as well as community catering, cafes and a bakery
Now The Gateway wants to hear from others who have ideas and is planning an information session for anyone interested in establishing a business that delivers social impact.
The informal session will take place on Wednesday 25 June between 6.30pm 8.00pm at the Gateway offices in King Street, Bathgate. It is open to all, with no previous experience necessary. Attendees will receive valuable information about social enterprises, advice on getting started, and details of available start-up funding.
Whether you already have an idea or are simply exploring possibilities, this session will provide a useful introduction to social enterprise and the support available to help you turn your idea into reality. No previous experience is required.
The session will cover:-
- What a social enterprise is and how it operates
- How to develop a social enterprise idea into a sustainable venture
- Information on the funding and guidance we can offer to support start-up activity
This event is open to anyone interested in creating positive change through enterprise.
